Grace and peace in Christ to you,
Note: Given Paul’s longstanding ill health resulting from the multiple attacks on him, these prayers are taken from the last several years of Paul’s journey with our Lord. They are incredibly valuable to witness his ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Listen below for the prayer:
Father, I don’t think I ever, ever—I just don’t think I have the capability; I don’t think I have the capacity to appreciate that I can just come to You, the sovereign being of the entire universe, the reason for everything that exists, including everything perverted that’s being perverted… Father, I just want people to just come to You in prayer so flippantly—I don’t get it. You know what I get? I get that the people who do that don’t believe You exist. They don’t understand You at any level at all. It’s a caricature. It’s a story.
It’s an imaginative play—a child, a child’s imaginary father. People are more bashful, Father, when they speak with people in the streets, people they have never known, than they are when they come before You, our Lord, our God. But I pray that You grant me, us, them the perspicuity, the wonder, the grace, and the insight into the enormity in which we have instant access at any time, at any moment, on any subject—all day, every second, all the time, any moment. It’s not just an open-door policy; it’s eternal and infinite availability. I don’t know one parent that’s ever been that way. Yet You are. And yet we come before You flippantly; we come before You entitled.
We come before You not believing in the name of believing. We come before You like You are our buddy and not our King, our Father Supreme. So I want to start this morning’s prayer by making a big deal out of something eternal and infinitely huge—because big doesn’t do it, deal doesn’t broach it, cross it, connect with it; it just doesn’t do it, Father. And I just want You—I know You know.
But I want everyone on this call to know that what I work so hard on every day, and what I work so hard on in praying and asking You in terms of requests to You, to show me more and more who You are, and every day to appreciate You more than I did the last time I prayed—one minute ago, or five minutes ago, or an hour ago, or yesterday, last month, or last year—to feel the wonder.
To feel a little bit, just a little bit more, every day. At the very least, when we start praying, feel something of that jaw-dropping, eye-watering, mind-blowing sunsets that happen every now and again. It seems that the sky is ablaze, and yet that’s only one of Your very creations. So, with this, thank You.
Again, I don’t even know what that is. What is thank You? What is it in perfect terms? How did You design perfect to be? And how did You design thank You within the context of that perfection, with Your eternal and infinite availability to us—which we take for granted? Go without hours and days, without praying to You at times. We’ve all done it.
So we ask You to bless us, Father, today and bless us with our hearts and souls. Bless our souls, bless our hearts, bless our beings—our body, heart, mind, and spirits. Bless our self-awareness, our imaginations, our independent world—the world that will drive our work forward in Your name for Your glory—and the imagination that will fuel its creativity and its originality, its beautiful manifestations, the very thing that catalyzes it.
In the back of the form of three endowments, in the back of the imagination, through that self-awareness—something that 99.9999 percent of all creations do not have—self-awareness. Conscience, You’ve given us that. You’ve given us that choice to choose and to create. You’ve given us that. And we squander it every day. That’s what falling from grace means: we squander.
We take for granted. We lust for our perversion of Your perfect creations. It’s a terrible state of affairs. And then we come on and we take You for granted. No more, please, Father. Please show us not to be this way. Please bless—please grace our day. We ask these things through Your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, along with His Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Father, please help me fall in awe of how truly amazing and glorious You are! Thank You for being You, totally and utterly unfathomably awesome in the true sense. Please Father, help me see how immense and amazing you are and how dependent I am and we are on You. Thank You Father Yahweh.
Amen. What a wonderful prayer and a powerful reminder to not squander our prayers and our God-given potential, and to be grateful for every moment we spend with our Father, and to do so intentionally, and with meaning and purpose. I ask You to lead me in that direction, Lord. Amen.
Amen. It is mind-blowing that the Creator of the entire Universe is someone that we can come to Him in prayer and that He wants a relationship with us. It is something else given the fallen from grace and sinful state we are in. Thank God for Jesus Christ and His atonement to give us the hope of His Kingdom.
Amen 🙏
Amen – what a heartfelt prayer. Heavenly Father please help me to live more of what Paul has shared here. To not take you for granted as a caricature but to help me feel the glory that you are in a world which is so broken and I am so fallen from the perfect state that you originally created man as.
Amen 🙏 Thank you.
Amen. We need to approach God with total awe and humility 🙏
Thank you for this prayer and for helping me to appreciate more of the glory of our Father, everything He created and what He does for us every single day. God bless
Appreciating the full glory of God is more than a lifetimes work, but seeing His glory and presence in all things is a growing joy for me. Thank You Lord! Amen
The amount that I have caricatured God is something I am constantly realising and waking up to that little tiny weeny bit more as He continually opens my eyes. I still remember when I first heard Paul saying this is how we see God and how I didn’t want to believe that, but it was so true. God bless all those who are awakening to who He is and growing in their understanding. Father, thank you for opening our eyes and healing our hearts through your incredible grace! 🙏
Amen. Thank you again for a touching prayer
Father, I pray for you to grace me with the ability to be respectful and to appreciate what you provide for us every day. Your love is abundant, please help me to feel it and to be grateful for what You are and will be doing for all of us. In your name, Amen
