Paul S. Waugh’s Daily Prayer – A Prayer on True Repentance, Forgiveness, and the Ripple Effect of Sin and Obedience – 9th Jan, 2026

Bible verse Acts 3:19 displayed in elegant script: 'Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Greetings in Christ everyone,

Here’s today’s Daily Prayer:

Father, our Commander and Chief, our Dad, Head of our family at Lighthouse, Head of our lives, not outside of You, but in You. We ask You to forgive us all, in the name of love, for letting each other down. In the name of love, for letting You down. Outside of the name of love, for letting You down.

Because when we let each other down, we let You down—simple as that. You make it very clear in Your Scriptures, in Your Logos, in Your Word—that same Word that has the earth going around the sun is the same Word that You’ve recorded in these books, in the same power, from the same source that created the universe and eternity and infinity.

And within the context of it, it’s You—our Father, God, our Lord, our Holy Spirit. So we ask You to forgive us, to ask for forgiveness, knowing—faith, through belief—you will find a way, despite us, to forgive us. And that’s not always easy for You. You’re not automatic.

It takes work on Your part, people don’t realise that, Father, it takes work on Your part to forgive us, and to get that forgiveness with the Father and the Spirit. With the Spirit. The Father and the Spirit. With the Spirit in the Father. With the Spirit and the Father. With the Spirit in the Son, and the Son in the Father, and the Father. It’s got to be an agreement.

It takes hard work for this forgiveness to happen. Is the repentance true? Is it real repentance? Is it pseudo? Is it false? Is it taken for granted that you can wilfully sin, not feel any contrition, and just repent—and there you are? You’ve got to do the work of assessing that. Being a wilful sinner and then repenting does not equal forgiveness. It does not equal atonement.

Repentance is like walking. You’ve got to do it properly, otherwise you’ll fall over. It’s exactly the same thing.

It’s not automatic. It’s not like flicking a switch. You’ve got to work hard on every repentant person, on every unrepentant person—they don’t even know it. And You’re recording everything they’re doing in order to hold them accountable to what they’ve done wrong to everyone else, including children, directly or indirectly.

Because this is what they don’t realise, Lord: on Judgment Day, You’re not just going to tell them what they did wrong. You’re going to show them the million things that happened because of their one action, throughout their life.

That people we don’t even know about—things I’ve done—caused a whole chain reaction because I did one wrong thing, or what I did right. And that chain reaction, through You, led to another million right things because of that one right thing I did. And how that pales in significance to the wrongdoing, and the billions and trillions of little events that triggered from one wrong doing.

People don’t think that deeply. They don’t understand that—understood that—and the calamity of that, and how that destroys the world way easier, way quicker, and with way more certainty than us dying from a nuclear war. People die from many little things that trigger. We are triggered from one small act of wrongdoing, triggering into a million acts, a million situations, a million—there’s a million fruits. So it’s the same with value.

Father, You taught me that. If you do one good thing it could lead to a million good things. A ripple effect of good things, because You did one good thing. There is never one bad thing or one good thing ever. It always moves into the world, into eternity, into a million bad things, a million good things.

That’s why it’s important—because one good thing leads to a million good things. Not one at a time necessarily. Not even you knowing it.

You’ve created a causation from the causer, either by accident or on purpose, by default or by design. But either/or, you’re still creating a million good things or a million bad things—depending on whether it’s bad or good.

So Father, I thank You for helping me—You moving this intellectual creation here, this feeling, loving, caring, destructive, angry, temper‑losing creation of absolute glory. It’s glorious, this creation, that is human.

Along with everything else—all the systems, internally, intrinsically, extrinsically—all coming together. You’re going, No, Paul, you need to do this today. I know what I’m doing, and I need you to do that today. Because whatever I’m doing, I need you to do it.

And that is power.

So we thank You for this, Lord. We thank You for Your love, for Your power, Your love, to be able to do this. We ask You to please give us an adequate and appropriate—and You know what that is—amount of Holy Spirit into our call today and into each of our souls.

And we ask You this, through Your Son Jesus Christ’s name.

Amen.

God’s grace to you,

Paul S. Waugh

Father, please help me by Your Spirit, no longer tolerate what I have normalised but is heinous and wicked. Please in Your mercy grant me the conscience and strength to be committed to the truth, to love and loving You. Whatever that price is. Your are Lord and Healer of all.

Paul thank you for your blessed commitment and humility to THE God. God bless you richly.

Amen! Thank you for this prayer. It reminded me how real and far-reaching both sin and obedience are — not just in my own life, but in how they affect others. I’m grateful for the call to true repentance, deep forgiveness, and walking in obedience with humility. God bless everyone today. x x x x

Thank you for sharing that our actions have consequences beyond what we can see. Because of this, I need to keep to Gods word to make sure those effects are in line with His plan.

God bless you Paul, thank you for this great prayer. “Repentance is like walking. You’ve got to do it properly, otherwise you’ll fall over.” That is such a wonderful and profound analogy that helps me appreciate and practically understand it much better. None of us can have any idea of the chain reactions we’ve caused because of our sin and that’s horrifying to think of but it’s real. It can last and travel through generations even, which just emphasises for me even more why my repentance and walking in that is so important and necessary. Thank you. Father please bless Paul and all who read and receive this prayer, help us all to take these words to heart and to practice and walk with you daily in prayer and repentance. Help us to be better at not letting you and others down, but to be a light and a comfort for them because of your spirit in us. Help us to be a cause for ripples of goodness in this world, for your glory. In Jesus’ name 🙏

Amen. Thank you for this prayer. I pray that the Holy Spirit works through all of us, that we may see more clearly the truth and reality of Christ, and that we grow more deeply into our God-given potential through wanting to suffer more in Christ.

Amen. Such a meaningful prayer that serves not only as a reminder of the need to be repentant, but also presents why repentance is important, the value and the impact of it. Once again I see how unaware I am that my actions don’t just affect me, but affect others in ways that I may never understand. Thank God for God!

Heavenly Father please help me to see my sins and errors and to repent from my heart and soul and not a mental idea of just saying sorry and moving on..
