Despite Paul’s longstanding ill health resulting from the multiple attacks on him, he recently joined a call with the Lighthouse team for prayer. We are sharing this prayer on Paul’s behalf as he rests, recovers, and draws strength in our Lord.
Listen to Paul’s prayer below:
Father, good morning. Morning, morning, my Lord. Morning, morning, morning.
We are so grateful that we’re growing in our increased gratitude for You.
My favourite chapter in the Bible, in Your Word, is Psalms 1. My favourite chapter in the New Testament is John 17, second, Matthew 24. I believe the one sets the other beautifully. And it is really the real action of constructive love and the help principle.
Where in Proverbs… You encourage us in Your Spirit to trust in You with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding, which is seriously not omniscient. Our understanding is in the point percenters. Our understanding is less than 1% of anything, of anyone, including ourselves.
So therefore, to acknowledge You in all our ways, according to Proverbs 3:5–6. And You have said clearly You will direct our paths. You will direct our paths. You will mentor us, coach us, counsel us, lead us, teach us, inspire us, spirit us.
When I say inspire, spirit us.
Intellectually. Not just intellectually mentally, like a mullet level one things. Intellectual is all four. Intellectual is personal, relational, transitional, transformational, transactional. Intellectual is body, heart, mind, spirit. Intellectual is what, why, when, where, who, how. Intellectual is discover, plan, act. Intellectual is see, be, do, give, give. Intellectuality is the theochristological, human, material and financial. Intellectuality is 4Rs. Intellectuality is the great triumvirate and its sacredness.
Intellectuality is You. Your love. Your constructive love. Your truth. The truth that is You. The love that is You. The constructiveness that is You.
So You say, “My child, trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct our paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6.
So Father, we thank You for not just our faith in Your Spirit, but in a relationship with You as a Father/child, as a Father/son.
We trust in You, our Lord. And that trust is the greatest joy, knowing that You’re there. It is the most glorious gift in You. The most glorious gift in You, along with that greatest joy, along with that faith and trust, along with Yourself and Your wonderfully constructive, loving atonement.
Thank You, Father. Thank You.
We ask You to purify us, my Lord. Bring us to wholeness so that we may both receive and abide with You. That is where love, joy, and peace are a consistent, ongoing, upward spiral of growth moving forward.
Why? Because that is life.
Why? So that we’ll be empowered to live that life to best serve with You and for You at the deepest, at the highest, and most optimal level.
This is the goal. This is the primary objective. This is never having to say no, where we ought to say yes. That’s what this means.
And I get a very clear message from here, Lord. The way my life has played out, now as I look at level ones slowly, slowly coming into four over decades now.
But You want us to know exactly how much of our growth does not depend on us. You want us to know how much of our progress does not depend on us.
That You will grant us streams of water, and that we can’t give ourselves one bit of water without You. That You will grant us streams of water, and everything we do will succeed because of that water.
Water we don’t have without You. Water we can’t give ourselves without You. Water we can’t give ourselves, with or without You. It can only come from You. It only comes from You.
The Spirit. Streams of water is the Spirit. We can’t give ourselves that. That everything will succeed in this season because of the Spirit that we can’t get but by You.
Ah, boom. There it is. There it is. My favourite, my favourite chapter. My favourite bit of reality.
So we thank You, Father, as we discuss today a little bit more about the help principle and a few other things.
The help principle in essence, it’s missing in all the work. It’s all through Your Bible there. It’s just all through it, from Genesis 1 to Revelation.
It is, “What am I seeing here? Help principle, help principle.”
What am I seeing here? Help principle, help principle.
Then Jesus comes, and He goes on the cross. Help principle, help principle. It’s everywhere.
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and…” Help principle.
“You lot, go to hell. You lot, go to the kingdom. You had your chance.” Help principle.
Sorry, sorry, Lord.
Oh, it’s everywhere. We can’t not have the help principle. It is absolutely the intersection to all love. It takes love the feeling and makes it love the action. It’s the intersection. It’s intersective. It is catalytical. It is inspired in its initiative and makes love real, and makes care caring beyond the feeling.
It means that good people that are scared to act against wickedness, to act against wickedness and not stand by and do nothing… Evil prevails because good people stand by and do nothing.
Often out of fear, not evil. Often out of ignorance, not having the knowledge, skill, and action. Not having the support, not having the backup, not having the resources. Having to say “no” resourcefully means having to say no where the help principle needs to be engaged.
So the help principle, Father, is just reading Your Word, the Bible, and being in prayer with You.
I just went, everywhere I look is the help principle, in its need or in its action, wholly and/or in part, well or unwell, or not well, or evenly applied.
Whatever it is, it is the call for it.
The necessity of it is paramount, my Lord. It is indeed everywhere. It is critical. It is the essence of love — love the verb, love the action — and it is founded in Your divine law of constructive love.
The help principle is essentially Your constructive love in action through Your body. End of.
The help principle, in short, is essentially love in action. Beyond love the feeling, love the care, love the prayer — love in action. Actioning the prayer.
That’s what I mean by… because prayer is action, obviously. But when we stop there, it becomes a farce.
If You stop there, we call it God not answering our prayers. If we stop there, it’s called leaving it in Your hands. That’s a farce.
So the help principle, it needs to be called out.
And Father, out of all the 1,500 books I’ve read, I’ve never seen the help principle.
I’ve heard about love. I’ve heard about love the verb, that love is a verb, that love is an action word. But it needed to be coined. It needed to be absolutely nailed. And the help principle nails it.
It’s what it is.
From the man in Jesus’ parable, the Samaritan that helped the man, the Samaritan who helped the man on the road — that’s help.
You writing the Bible through 66 books and 40-odd authors — right there, help.
You wanting us to pray, and us wanting to love You with all our hearts — help.
The Ten Commandments — help.
Love your neighbor as yourself — help.
Help widows and orphans. Help, help, help, help, help.
It’s everywhere.
It takes away the nonsense of being a good person through emotion instead of being a good person through emotion and action.
We thank You, our Lord.
We leave this with You. We repent. We leave this call in Your care and keeping.
Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Jesus.

Amen… wonderful. I have listened to this prayer a couple of times now and there is so much richness here to appreciate how much the principle of help is present throughout God’s Word… but more than that. This helps draw me into who my Father is, what His love is made of, and how He wants me to be, like Him. Thank you Paul, God be with you and heal you x
Thank you for such a timely and intimate prayer. We are so fortunate to be part of these prayers and now to be able to share them with others, so that they too may be blessed by them.
HELP being at the very core of love is something I keep coming back to. Thank you, Paul, and God bless you and us all. Amen. x x
Amen. The reminder that our own understanding is so limited, and that trust in God requires a real relationship with Him and learning to listen to Him, is very grounding.
Thank you as well for introducing the help principle, that is especially meaningful. When love is expressed through action and help, faith becomes visible in the way we serve and support others.
On our own we are so limited, and we need the Holy Spirit working through us to live as we are called to live. Thank you 🙏
Amen…Father, please help us grow closer to you, to build our interpersonal relationship with you. I pray for your help to purify us into wholeness. In your Son, Jesus Christ’s name…
Amen. Such a wonderful prayer that expresses Paul’s relationship with God, the immense wisdom of God’s Word and the power of our work at Lighthouse. I am so grateful that we are finding the ways and means to help Christians individually live, love and serve in such a way that reveals God’s glory.
The more that is revealed about us and our work at Lighthouse, the more it exposes the evil shown by the likes of the Daily Mail, the BBC, the Insolvency Service and Christian Hacking. Although it’s been very challenging to have such organisations and individuals try to destroy everything we’ve worked so hard for, I recognise that I need to follow Christ’s commandment to love our enemies. Similarly I realise that this isn’t to ignore their attacks… that is not a responsible way to deal with murderous intent towards us, but instead I need to drop the resentment, pray for them, forgive them, hold them accountable and call them to repent.
Praise God, what a wonderful prayer and sound teaching. Thank you Paul, bless you
Thank you for such a moving prayer, reminding me and us all how limited we actually are with God’s Grace and the need for his Holy Spirit – Amen
Amen, thank you! It’s extremely profound to see how much the Help Principle, essentially constructive love in action, is visible everywhere. Once we understand it and see it, we can’t stop seeing it and how much we keep breaking ourselves against it in our fallen human nature. Without God and His spirit, His grace, where would we be! It’s terrible to contemplate the more we learn about and realise our depths of sin. Father thank you for bringing us this prayer from our brother Paul, thank you for feeding us with your spirited streams of water, please help us to live and align with the Help Principle today and to do your will, not ours. Forgive us for where I and we break ourselves against it and lift us up to be stronger and wiser by learning from where we got it wrong. Help us be vessels for your glory, in Jesus’s name. Amen 🙏
Amen, thank You for Your Mercy and Your Grace Lord that we can seek Your help and become more aligned with You to serve You for Your glory 🙏
God bless your love for our Father. Always a touching and inspiring prayer.
There is no better personal, loving entity to ask for help from, than God. The one who created us and the entire universe around us.
