| Note – Because Paul has been so unwell, we are writing these articles from the hundreds of thousands of pages of transcripts of our Lighthouse research, in order to share with you—the reader—what Paul has learned and taught over the last twenty one years. In 2021-2022, the BBC unlawfully obtained highly sensitive and personal data through criminally stolen transcripts of personal and group counselling sessions and misrepresented them to the public in their docu-myth. An act of diabolical pride in and of itself! They will never live it down. They tried to decimate the public’s perception of Paul and all of us at Lighthouse Global, and have only succeeded in making us stronger, Glory to God! They know they wilfully deceived the British and global citizens. Repent! |
Good evening, everybody. I thought I’d share something with you this Sunday. I’m busy writing at the moment an open letter to God, and I want to share what that letter is about.
Before you read further, please listen to the following audio:
This open letter to God is about my heartfelt—genuine heartfelt, Christian heartfelt, human heartfelt— imperfectly sinful heartfelt relationship that humans have with problems. As problem creators, problem avoiders, and problem solvers, we are flooded, absolutely flooded in this world—this so-called modern world—absolutely deluged. The biggest tsunami is not in water. The sea generally behaves. The true tsunami is just humanity and its problems.
“The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.” — Isaiah 24:5
The Genius of Problem Creation
Humanity has problems. Problems are causes for itself, causes for animals, causes for nature, causes for the environment. We are a tsunami. We are problem creators extraordinaire. We’re genius at it. The biggest genius in humanity, the biggest genius, is the genius of problem creation. So it’s not just problem solving—it’s problem creation.
I make a very bold statement based on my research in the last 40 years, but primarily at Lighthouse for the last 21 years. I say that the average person—and even the above-average person, by a long, long way above average—has less than a 1 out of 10 understanding of problems. I’m being conservative; it’s actually less than 1 in 100. But I’m saying 1 out of 10 because we can get our head around 10 more than 100. So definitely less than 10% or 1 out of 10, and definitely less than 1 in 100.
Lost in the Leaves
The reason why that is, and how I know that, besides going into all my research—because there’s a huge amount of it—is fundamentally this: If I sat down with anybody, they couldn’t define what the subject of problems are. That’s the first thing.
Solving problems at a less than 1 out of 10 level is simply found by asking somebody—or anybody—what are the primary principles of problem solving? What are the primary chronic underlying laws, principles, fundamentals? The primary and rooted, at the root, knowledge of problem creation and problem solving? How does this occur at a very rooted level?
Most people are stuck in a position that they don’t even understand, don’t even know, don’t even realise. They’re sort of playing with the leaves of evil, or the leaves of problems, or the leaves of challenge, or whatever it may be. Playing with the leaves, lost in the leaves, lost in the branches, lost in the foliage, unaware that deep underground is this vast matrix, this vast rhizome of a root and a rooted system. And the more, the bigger the foliage and the bigger the amount of leaves, the more lost people are, the bigger the rhizome at the rooted level.
People, we at school and in our upbringings do not learn what problems are. And I’m here to tell you that if we don’t learn what problems are, how we create them, and how we can avoid creating them—at least by degree—then we will create them unwittingly, unknowingly, unconsciously, and subconsciously. And our souls will create problems.
The Only Thing That Gets in Our Way
The only thing that will ever, ever, ever, ever get in our way—ever get in our way of living our lives, living, truly living—the only thing that will ever get in our way is called a problem or called problems. End of.
Fears, anxiety, anticipation—billions of pounds or dollars of drugs are bought every single month by people in order to cope with anxiety alone. Rational or irrational anxiety.
What Hell Is
Let me tell you what hell is, whether you want to talk about it as a place, a space, or an existence. Let me just say what hell is, because that’s how people experience problems—a lot of problems, big problems, a lot of big problems—is often described as hell. And then there’s this place, an eternal place called hell, which is an interesting subject, a very at the very least fascinating subject which most people avoid.
But fascinating because what hell is in its essence is being in a place, being in a space, being in yourself where you cannot live. Read this carefully.. carefully.. You cannot live and you cannot die. You cannot live and you cannot die…
“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” — Matthew 25:46
There is a gracelessness—both in kind or degree, qualitatively or quantitatively—it’s living a life where you cannot die, you cannot die, and you cannot live. And the word for that is existence or existential. That’s what that is. And that is what the Bible speaks of as hell: a place where we have full understanding of meaning but don’t have it. Like we could have full understanding of happiness and not have it, or full understanding of a house and not have one, or full understanding of a family and not have one, or an understanding of eternal life and not have it.
Hell is neither able to live nor die? And how many people live like this in the flesh without being able to end it, for example? So they’re doing instalments with alcohol every night—another bottle, another two, or whatever it may be.
Suicide by Installment
How many of us live, because we can’t commit suicide in one go, we commit it in an installment subconsciously? I understand it. I promised you, I was there. Please, I’m not judging anybody here. I’m saying I understand that well. Committing suicide by installment without realizing it. Calling it living, calling it life, calling it enjoyment, calling it living high on the hog or whatever it may be.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” — Proverbs 16:25
Understanding Problems at a Primary Level
My first open letter is going to be coming out in the next few days. It’s quite a long letter—it’s about 45 minutes to an hour to read. I’m going to be doing a reading of it as well.
I want to explain what it is. It’s introducing the understanding that most people have a very, very low—they have, most of us, I would go as far as to say 99%—have an insufficient understanding at a chronic, at a primary, at a principle-centered level, at a primary level. We do not understand problems. We understand them in a secondary way. We understand the superficial ideas of problems. We understand the experience of it, the pain, the suffering, the fear of it. We understand all that.
But what we don’t understand is the subject of it at a very deep knowledge level. Like an engineer would understand physics. Like a physicist would understand physics at a very principle-centered level, which makes a physicist or an engineer an engineer. Now I’m not talking about a technician who fixes or repairs boilers. I’m talking about a true blue engineer. You’re talking about deep, deep principles. Deep, deep understanding of the complexity of how things work or don’t.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6
We Are Greater Problem Creators Than Solvers
Not understanding that makes us problem creators. Not understanding that makes us very low-level problem solvers. High-level problem creators. We are very scared to take a risk, very scared to go out there and forge our way or make our way in the world and try to build massive value, because we know we are a risk to ourselves. We know we’re bigger problem creators subconsciously, and we know deep down that we’re bigger problem creators than we are solvers.
That is huge. Because when you’re a bigger problem creator than a solver, you’ve got to create problems without even knowing it. It’s so subconscious, so deep in our psyche as imperfect sinful beings.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23
Imagine that—going out there to create value and we create problems. Most businesses fail within seven months because we’re problem creators, not solution finders. Not opportunity and solution-orientated, value-building people. We’re just not. We destroy everything we touch, including this globe that we live on that we inherited. We never built this earth, never built the sun. We’re destroying this environment, and we’re destroying nature. We’re destroying ourselves and our own nature. So I’ll close with a very short prayer.
Prayer
Father,
Thank you for this last week. Thank you for the week ahead. The opportunity to serve. The opportunity to learn and have at least the opportunity to learn.
Through my open letters here and through my work that is now in the process of being compiled and completed: The Sum of All Problems; the alchemy of turning problems into value instead of value into problems because most people take value, starting with themselves, and turn them into problems.
There’s all the evidence for this, 100%. No one knows anything about problem solving on a primary level. I’ve been studying with Lighthouse for 21 years. I’m being attacked for this. This is something that gives the ordinary human being incredible levels of the power you’ve given a human being.
God-given potential, God-given value, God-given humanness, God-given human spirit, God-given value, on a human level, on a human, theochristological, human, material, financial level. Man has got incredible levels of potential. Human beings have incredible human potential, granted by You, Lord. And we don’t understand it, we don’t know it, we’re not raised. The powers that be, the heads of the KOD, the Kingdom of Darkness, do not want this little subordinary human being coming in, Paul Waugh, and empowering not only himself but others en masse. Especially when they are Christian, Conservative Christians. They’re the last group of people anybody wants anybody going out and telling them this level of truth, but by Your grace, Lord, this is happening. And I want to thank You from the bottom of my heart.
Father, we just pray for the week ahead, for those that are suffering, for the children, for the vulnerable, for those that are suffering, those in pain, those confused, in absolute derision of being attacked, whatever it may be, especially when they’re young and they’re vulnerable and it’s awful. And they can’t get out of it. Help us launch interventions to help these poor, stricken souls, my Lord, please, we beg You.
Father, with bowed head and bended knee, we humbly repent. We thank You for Your atonement, we thank You for Your salvation, we thank You for The Kingdom and giving us the opportunity to seek first that Kingdom and to truly live because dying is not an option. We are all eternal. Dying is not an option so we are either going to live eternally or we are going to not live –exist– eternally; the one is hell and the other is heaven, and these two subjects are older than prostitution, and that’s saying something.
So, Father, I just want to thank You, our glorious Father, our loving, caring, Heavenly Father.
We ask You all these things, through Your Son, Jesus Christ’s name.
Amen.
Thank you everybody, have a wonderful evening, and have a wonderful week. You are all of my prayers in principle. I don’t have to know who you are to pray for you. I pray for you wherever you are whoever you are.
Lots of love, God bless. Have a good week, have a great week.
God bless.

This was sent to me by a friend and it hit me hard. I’m not particularly religious, but I can’t deny the spiritual dimension you’re describing. The idea of existing without truly living or dying, that’s not just about hell as a place, it’s about how so many of us are living right now. I see it everywhere, including in myself sometimes.
What stands out is the humility in your approach—you’re not preaching at people, you’re acknowledging your own journey by saying.. “I was there”. The combination of Christian theology with practical problem-solving principles is unusual. Most self-help avoids the sin/grace conversation entirely, and most theology avoids practical frameworks.
I’m curious about this “Sum of All Problems” work you’re compiling. If humans really do have this massive blind spot—less than 1% understanding—then learning even a fraction more could be transformative. I’d like to understand more about what you’ve discovered in those 21 years at Lighthouse. Not sure I’m ready to pray alongside you, but I’m definitely listening.
Thank you Sarah for your reply and really appreciate your distinction that most self-help avoids the problem of our sin and imperfection. Glad you are following this discourse.
Thank you for your comment Sarah, would be great to hear what you think about Paul’s latest article: https://paulswaugh.com/grown-up-christianity-because-christianity-is-grown-up-by-paul-s-waugh/ I think if you appreciated this one, this recent one may appeal to you also
Really appreciated this article — it resonated with me a lot. I’ve been seeing how easily I look at problems on the surface without recognising the deeper principles or the part I play in them, and what you shared really brought that home for me.
It also reminded me how much of what we face is spiritual at the root, and how important it is to approach things with honesty, humility and a clearer understanding in Christ. Thank you for sharing it. x x
Thank you for this article. It shows something so important: we so often get caught up in the secondary problems without recognising what’s happening at a primary level or what set everything in motion in the first place. Without truly understanding the root causes, we end up placing a temporary bandage over issues rather than actually resolving them.
Thank you for helping me see the value of looking deeper, both within myself and into the real root of the problems I face and that are happening in society.
We are all sinners (in other words, imperfect), and Christ died for our sins. Accepting this truth helps me to see problems through a very different lens. God bless.
What are the primary principles of problem solving? Wow! Even just having the knowledge about problems enough to even think to ask a question like that is so far beyond where people are! It certainly is for me! I would never have come close to asking that. One of the biggest problems of being such a problem and problem creator is that we don’t even realise or know that’s what we are, which is what makes Paul’s work and the wisdom he’s sharing so profound. We are absolutely riddled with problems and the reality of that just gets worse and worse and worse the more we look at that and think about it, which is why so many people don’t. We don’t even want to go there because of how painful we know that’s going to be and because we haven’t been trained and brought up in being a solution finder and developer. But what’s worse never facing that and suffering through what we need to in order to change that, or leaving ourselves to keep making life harder and more painful through our problem creation! It just shows how much our education and how we are brought up is not about and nothing to do with our best interests but the interests of those who want to remain in control, pulling the strings. It also shows how incredibly valuable this teaching here is and how much we all need to be coming together to help one another with this.
Thank you for such a powerful article Paul. The fact that we are problem creators not solvers is evident in why the world is in the mess it is.
I can see a problem, but not understand it, not know why that problem is there, most of all, I don’t know how to solve it. Why? Because I have never been educated in the right way to solve problem, not just on the surface, but looking deeper inside.
God bless you Paul for wanting to share this with us all. I pray for your continual healing x x
It’s embarrassing that after thousands of years of human existence (or millions if you believe in the theory of evolution) that human beings are at such a low level of problem solving ability and such a high level of problem creation. Yet that’s the reality we face as fallen from grace human beings.
Even more embarrassing that we don’t even know what problems are and that billions need to be spent on trying to numb the pain of living with them.
The effects on the vulnerable, innocent and fragile are chronic and acute… causing great pain and suffering.
By God’s grace we’ll be able to release our fundings to the world, especially our Christian brothers and sisters as well as those dedicated to truth.
Thank you so much Paul! This is a brilliant analysis of where humanity actually is and why we, knowing deep down we are more problem creators than solvers, do not even begin to realise a slither of our God-given potential.
“The biggest tsunami is not in water. The sea generally behaves. The true tsunami is just humanity and its problems.”
This is a powerful and also damning statement of where humanity is as a consequence of our imperfection and sin and the absence of a sufficient education and upbringing to understand who we truly are…made in the image of Almighty God.
I really appreciate the relevancy and power of the Biblical scriptures to reinforce and deepen the understanding of our state. And what is so exciting to me is with your primary, concise, thorough and clarifying analysis of humanity, we can begin to take responsibility for our lives and choices to actualise our potential! That is incredibly powerful and therefore we look forward to receiving your open letter.
Thank you 🙏
Wow. Brutally loving and incredible. Hell is fascinating… I have to learn more. Never heard it described as such. Being lost in the hamster wheel of being at the mercy of self and mutually induced problems is maddening and we as a species are mad. God bless you Paul. Thank you for your work through suffering, your prayers, your love in action and to God for the wisdom He is giving us through you and so much more. God help us all to wake up. Thank you.
Particularly impactful insights as this transcends the secular and non-secular when it comes to problem creating, solving and preventing.
We all need to pay attention to the section in Paul’s prayer: “We are all eternal. Dying is not an option so we are either going to live eternally or we are going to not live –exist– eternally; the one is hell and the other is heaven, and these two subjects are older than prostitution, and that’s saying something.”
I don’t want to imagine an existence totally outside of God’s grace and I pray that every person has the full knowledge of this before they pass from this world. Brothers and sisters, PLEASE pass this on ✝️ 🙏🏼
I feel the unwillingness to risk, and it has been causing me pain for years. I have been unable to face it, lacking the strength to overcome it. Your words touch deeply, as truth always does, unless I shut myself off from it. How much we do in the name of truth, yet avoid its cost. It is painful to be honest, to look at myself and see that I am the central and most profound problem in my own life.
It has been too easy to experience wisdom only on the surface, just mentally. But as soon as I took it to heart, the truth became visible. We are far too ignorant of the problem. Our schooling and our conditioning put an end to that awareness, but I am grateful that there is a beacon of light, that this exists, that you are out there in the darkness.
God bless you… x x
Such an excellent read….
Such a powerful article. The older I’ve become the more I see how so many of my challenges have been created by the problems I have created. So true about how we are prolific at creating problems.
The section on hell here made me think about one of the most recent articles Paul shared a few days ago on Grown Up Christianity. We cannot underestimate the intersection between the hell we create right now and also what we are risking if we are not being transformed by the Holy Spirit and growing up essentially
