“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” — Mark 8:36
Why did I call my open letter God Help You, Catrin Nye?
Because Catrin Nye desperately needs help.
Will her partner, Jamie Bartlett, genuinely help her? Will the BBC help her? Will Ed Campbell help her? Clearly not. Not if helping her means reinforcing a protected public identity, controlling the optics and assuring her that neither she nor the BBC has anything serious to face.
Real help would require something far more loving and far more difficult. It would mean urging Catrin Nye to seek the truth, examine the full evidence, admit what was done through A Very British Cult, correct what is false and face the human consequences honestly. It would mean caring more about her soul, conscience and relationship with Jesus Christ than about her career, public standing or the BBC’s institutional reputation. It would mean caring more about making things right than a personal accolade and media industry awards.
That is the help she needs from those closest to her. Yet the truth is more severe: Ms Nye needs much more than human help. Like me, like everyone at Lighthouse and like every person at the BBC, she needs God to save her.
Why The Letter Is Titled “God Help You”
If you have not yet read my full open letter to Catrin Nye, you can do so here.
The title is a prayer. It is a caution for her eternal soul, yes, but it is also an intended blessing and a call to repentance.
I made my position explicit (in bold) at the beginning of the letter:
“Upfront, I want to make it clear that myself and everyone at Lighthouse Global implore all fellow citizens not to harass or harm Catrin Nye, Jamie Bartlett or their families in any way, including sending death threats and abusive messages. I absolutely condemn such behaviour to be inflicted on them or any human being.”
— Open letter, Section 1, paragraph 6.3
I did not in any way call for Catrin’s destruction… would not and will not. I called for her protection from threats and harm. I described my pain, anger and exhaustion openly, but I also qualified those feelings:
“Beneath the anger and the exhaustion at our situation lies a profound, unadulterated sadness.”
— Open letter, Section 1, paragraph 6.6
And:
“This is not written out of malice, but out of a sincere love, care, and concern for the restoration of truth and fairness in our society.”
— Open letter, Section 1, paragraph 6.6
That is why the letter ends not with a declaration for vengeance, but with prayer:
“Catrin, I leave this first letter with you in my prayers. I pray and call for you to repent.”
— Open letter, Section 8, paragraph 8

Who Will Truly Help Catrin Nye?
Jamie Bartlett could help Catrin Nye by refusing to tell her only what protects their shared life and public standing. He could help her examine the evidence without fear or favour and ask whether defending the BBC’s account is worth the cost to truth, conscience and eternity.
The BBC could help her by opening the complete production record, examining the minimum 140 falsehoods, manipulations and distortions Lighthouse has documented (including our formal complaints to the BBC and Ofcom), acknowledging what it got wrong and providing a meaningful opportunity to correct the false public record. Instead, the BBC continues to behave as if it executed everything perfectly, not even admitting one small mistake made in good faith… never mind facing the evidence of deliberate manipulation.
Here’s just one example of how an audio recording was cut and spliced to suit the BBC’s fictitious narrative about Lighthouse:
Ed Campbell could help her by caring more about the truth and her eternal welfare than institutional solidarity. Real friendship does not protect someone from the truth. It helps them bear it.
If these people closest to Catrin Nye genuinely care about her, and about their own standing before God, they will stop helping her try to control appearances and start helping her face reality.
The individual and collective hubris at the BBC is extraordinary. A Very British Cult was presented to millions as authoritative investigative journalism. Yet those responsible, like Ms Nye and Mr Bartlett, have behaved as though every source was completely honest and trustworthy, every omission justified, every framing choice fair, and every resulting human consequence somebody else’s fault. And they cannot keep pretending that to be the case.
They know the evidence exists. They know we have repeatedly tried to bring it into a direct examination for the public to see for themselves. They know the BBC’s public account has never been tested through an equal, unedited encounter. That is why I wrote:
“Let us fight for truth together: two opponents in combat where the sole winner is truth.”
— Open letter, Section 2, paragraph 4
Now years after it was first offered publicly and privately, the invitation remains unanswered.
I Cannot Repent for What I Did Not Do
I am not guilty of what Catrin Nye, the BBC and their sources have accused me of in their propaganda pantomime. I cannot apologise for things I did not do or repent for false accusations merely to satisfy those who require my permanent condemnation.
But I am guilty before God for the sins and wrongs I have actually committed, and I am deeply repentant before Him for what I have done. I do not claim perfection. Repentance must be truthful: I will not confess to falsehood, but neither will I hide from the truth about myself.
Jesus tells us to remove the plank from our own eye before addressing the speck in another’s (Matthew 7:5). I apply that command to myself first. Where I have sinned, made mistakes, acted from anger or pursued a legitimate end through the wrong spirit, I must face it, repent, apologise and change.
In fact, on a Lighthouse call on 26th July 2022, well before A Very British Cult aired in April 2023, I prayed:
“Father, please forgive me for my intolerance. Please forgive me for my anger, for my frustration. Please forgive me for my madness. Please forgive me for my foul mouth in front of my brothers and sisters here. I fall on my face with shame.”
— Paul S. Waugh, Lighthouse call, 26th July 2022
In an X post on 13th April 2024, I wrote:
“This is not about revenge, because justice without reform is revenge. That is not to say that we do not ever feel a little vengeful in times of weakness, but for that I, and we, will pray and repent to our Lord to forgive us. Just like every human being who has ever lived since the fall from grace, we are hugely imperfect too.”
— Paul S. Waugh, public post on X, 13th April 2024
I am not presenting myself as the sinless man standing above Catrin Nye, or anyone else. I am a sinner who needs the blood and atonement of Jesus Christ. The contrast I am drawing is between repentance and hardened self-justification, between being willing to face truth and acting as though one has done nothing wrong.
Does Catrin Nye Want Me, Paul S. Waugh, to Be in Hell?
Does Catrin Nye want me, Paul S. Waugh, to be in Hell?
Highly likely.
I cannot claim direct knowledge of her heart. God alone knows that. I am stating my considered conclusion from the public record and from what her choices have produced.
Ms Nye amplified maliciously false sources to millions. She helped construct a public identity around me and Lighthouse that was intended to destroy our credibility, reputation, relationships, livelihoods and future opportunities.
The BBC (and Ofcom, as well as the police) knew about the death threats and heinous abuse directed towards us. Yet Catrin Nye and the BBC have never made the clear public intervention I made for her: do not threaten these people, do not harm them and do not use our journalism as permission for hatred.
I have not seen her express concern for my repentance, restoration, salvation or reconciliation with God. I have not seen her ask whether the people publicly designated as “dangerous” might be brought closer to Christ. Instead, she has continued to defend the narrative and, when confronted with its consequences, has presented herself as the victim.
That is why I consider it highly likely that she wants nothing good for me, not in this life and not in eternity. Her conduct communicates a desire for my exclusion, destruction and permanent condemnation.
What Do I Want for Catrin Nye?
I do not want Catrin Nye in Hell.
I want Catrin Nye, Jamie Bartlett, their family and everyone at the BBC to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. I want them in God’s Kingdom. I want truth faced, sin confessed, contrite hearts, falsehood corrected, restitution made and relationships restored wherever restoration remains possible.
God “wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). The Lord is patient, “not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). If I ask God for mercy while desiring damnation for those who harmed us, I have not understood the mercy I claim for myself.
That is the grand irony.
The celebrated BBC investigative journalist, praised by followers who call her “The Queen”, helped produce a programme whose consequences have contributed to the attempted diabolical Life Destruction of myself, my Lighthouse business partners, my friends and our organisation. Yet we pray for her. We peacefully brought a signed Bible and a letter to her door. We still ask God to help her. And we pray that He will.
Christian love does not require me to soften the evidence or accountability in the face of slander and false accusation. It requires me to tell the truth while continuing to desire her salvation.
Catrin Nye Has a Choice
Catrin Nye has a choice. The BBC has a choice. Jamie Bartlett, Ed Campbell and everyone who has helped construct or defend this falsified public account has a choice.
Stop trying to manipulate the optics. Stop treating accountability as victimisation. Stop behaving as though you are incapable of admitting even one error. Be honest. Face the facts of what was done through A Very British Cult. Sit down with us and allow truth, not the BBC, not public sentiment, not even Lighthouse Global, to win.
My open letter says:
“Remember, there is always Christ. There is always the solid rock of truth.”
— Open letter, Section 3, paragraph 9
If Catrin Nye is too hardened, frightened or institutionally trapped to ask for God’s help, then somebody at the BBC should help her out of the mutually created hell they are building for one another. But nobody should confuse institutional protection with salvation. The BBC cannot save her. Jamie Bartlett cannot save her. Ed Campbell cannot save her. I cannot save her.
Only Jesus Christ can.
That is why God Help You, Catrin Nye is both candid and loving. In truth, help alone is not enough. We all need God to save us from our sin, self-rule, pride, mutual bloodlust and capacity to destroy one another while calling ourselves righteous.
God ultimately decides where each of us spends eternity. Asking for His help is not the end. But it may be the beginning.
I pray for Catrin Nye. I pray for the BBC. I pray for everyone at Lighthouse.
God help us all.
God bless,
Paul S. Waugh

This post shows the care, compassion and humanity that’s behind the open letter to Catrin Nye. It also spells out the pure disdain that Catrin Nye has for Paul, for us all at Lighthouse and our work. She hates that we’re revealing the lies and deception that she’s used to promote herself at our expense through A Very British Cult.
We continue to pray for Catrin Nye and we implore all reading this to do the same…
Thank you for explaining your caring purpose behind your letter. The BBC will want to misconstrue it, as we have seen from their past behaviour.
This is a powerful message to everyone who has accused Paul and Lighthouse of wrongdoing that, ultimately, we cannot repent for if we haven’t done it. I really value the emphasis on the difference between what Paul and we at Lighthouse want for Catrin Nye, versus what she may want for us.
Truth will always prevail and hold each of us to account for what we have done. May God bless and grace us all. Thank you for this candid but much-needed message. I, and we, pray for Catrin Nye’s repentance. Amen. 🙏
I think that observation of how those close to Catrin Nye ought to be helping her is a really powerful message. Who could plead with her, reason with her, disciple her in this message to do the right thing. We would, Paul would, but she’s tarred him and us so badly that she may never be willing to sit down. I hope that isn’t true. God help Catrin Nye and us all
This is really stunning. The honesty, love, integrity and humility here from you Paul is powerful. We are all deserving of separation from God but for His grace and mercy through His Son Jesus Christ. Thank you. I pray that those at the BBC turn from their errors and wrongs to know this ultimate truth for themselves personally.
This is a critical message that everyone has a choice and the choices that have been made by Catrin Nye and the BBC so far, have been destructive and dangerous…we pray that the more the truth is revealed, they will see that the choices they have made have consequences and that the more they continue to lie and cheat, they will continue to reap those consequences.
Reading this loving article shows how much Paul is trying to reach out to Catrin Nye and how much she is trying to maintain the lies and falsehoods she has produced. I pray that she opens her heart, repents and accepts God’s love and help.
Thank you Paul. The title is not to demean Ms Nye, but to encourage her to seek help from the one being who can and will help her: God. Of everyone close to her, you’re the only one I can see who cares enough to tell her the truth, Paul. You have helped her to see the reality of her lies and what they will do to her. You have been loving by being honest with her. The BBC encourages her to keep lying, which will pull her deeper into the dark untruth.
I pray for her…Amen
What cuts so deeply about this piece is its sheer, unyielding spiritual clarity in the face of absolute institutional hostility. There is a staggering moral weight to how Paul turns what the media would dismiss as a mere sharp title into a profound act of Christian intercession—refusing to meet calculated institutional malice with hatred, but insisting instead on holding a mirror up to a dying soul. Brilliant work thank you
This is a very true quote from Paul S Waugh:
This is the only true friendship that we as human beings can have and it is telling that no one around Catrin Nye seems to be willing to tell her the truth of what is really happening or is will to look at it themselves. They are caught in their own bubble of nonsense and that is why we pray for them.
The title being a prayer in its own right is absolutely spot on and we all need the help and love of God.
