Daniel’s Statue, the Establishment, and the Coming Kingdom by Paul S. Waugh

The Rise and Fall of the Establishment

Daniel’s Statue, Two Thousand Years of Empire, and the Certain Reign of Christ

by Paul S. Waugh

Note – Because Paul has been so unwell, we are writing these articles from the hundreds of thousands of pages of transcripts of our Lighthouse research, in order to share with you—the reader—what Paul has learned and taught over the last twenty one years. In 2021-2022, the BBC unlawfully obtained highly sensitive and personal data through criminally stolen transcripts of personal and group counselling sessions and misrepresented them to the public in their docu-myth. An act of diabolical pride in and of itself! They will never live it down. They tried to decimate the public’s perception of Paul and all of us at Lighthouse Global, and have only succeeded in making us stronger, Glory to God! They know they wilfully deceived the British and global citizens. Repent!

Over the last two decades I have been forced to ask a hard question: What exactly is this “establishment” that keeps crushing human potential, and how does God see it?

As a Christian, I cannot answer that question only in political or psychological terms. I must also look at it through Scripture. And one of the clearest windows God gives us is in the book of Daniel: the statue with the head of gold and the feet of iron and clay.

In this piece I want to share, in the first person, how I now see the establishment across millennia through Daniel’s prophecy, through John MacArthur’s commentary on that passage, and through the brutal realities I’ve encountered in my own battle with modern institutions. My aim is not to entertain you but to help you discern the pattern, see both the danger and the fragility of the establishment, and understand our responsibility now as Christians.

I. I Had To Learn To Discern the Pattern: One Statue, Many Faces

Daniel’s Statue: God’s Blueprint of the Establishment

When I first really grappled with Daniel 2, it stopped being a Sunday school story and became a strategic intelligence briefing from God.

Nebuchadnezzar sees a terrifying statue:

  • A head of gold
  • Chest and arms of silver
  • Belly and thighs of bronze
  • Legs of iron
  • Feet partly of iron and partly of clay

Then a stone “cut out without hands” (Daniel 2:34-35) smashes the feet. The whole statue collapses. That stone becomes a mountain that fills the earth.

John MacArthur, in his teaching on Daniel 2, takes what I believe is the sober, historically rooted view:

  • The gold head is Babylon.
  • The silver is Medo‑Persia.
  • The bronze is Greece.
  • The iron legs are Rome.
  • The iron and clay feet and toes are the final, divided, brittle phase of human power that precedes the visible triumph of God’s kingdom.

What that means is this: the statue is a prophetic picture of the establishment of this age. It is the pattern of empire. It is the system of human power that keeps reinventing itself throughout history.

When I look at the Bible’s storyline, I see this same pattern again and again.

  • Babel is humanity’s first great “civilisational project” designed to make a name for ourselves without God. God scatters it. (Genesis 11:5–8)
  • Pharaoh’s Egypt is a state machine that enslaves and genocides to protect its economic interests. God humiliates it and drowns its army. (Exodus 14:27–28)
  • Babylon, the golden head itself, is sophisticated, wealthy, cultured—and blasphemous, arrogant, and cruel. God writes its death sentence on the wall. (Daniel 5:24–28)
  • Medo‑Persia and Greece build vast, brilliant, philosophically rich empires that still rest on human pride and oppression. (Daniel 2:21)
  • Rome becomes the iron empire, crushing nations under its boots, and it is Rome that crucifies Christ and destroys Jerusalem. (Matthew 24:2)
  • The Pharisaic religious‑political establishment—the Sanhedrin, the power‑religion of Jesus’ day—is exposed by Christ as “whitewashed tombs,” “serpents,” a brood of vipers. They look holy on the outside but are full of death within. (Matthew 23:27–2)

Every time, the same thing happens:

  1. Human power structures exalt themselves.
  2. They suppress truth, crush the vulnerable, and resist God’s purposes.
  3. They are judged and brought down by God.

That is the statue in motion through history.

Seeing Today’s Establishment as the Feet of the Same Statue

When I look at today’s elite networks, government agencies, media giants, corporate‑financial cartels, and captured courts, I do not see anything fundamentally new. I see the dissipation of the establishment leading to the end of the system—the feet of iron and clay of the same statue being destroyed by the rock cut without hands.

  • Ancient empires used swords and pagan idols.
  • Modern establishments use school curricula, media narratives, financial leverage, regulatory bodies, and propaganda to keep people infantilised, divided, and underdeveloped.
  • Both are driven by what Scripture calls principalities and powers—real spiritual intelligences at work behind the scenes, as John MacArthur emphasizes in his teaching on Ephesians 6 and Colossians 2.

In my own battle with the BBC, the Insolvency Service, and other arms of the modern establishment, I have seen this pattern up close. At Lighthouse we have been exposing, in detail, how:

  • Institutions cover up evil and protect predators.
  • “Accountability” structures are weaponised against those who investigate and protect victims.
  • Media outlets operate like priesthoods of narrative, deciding who is “clean” and who is “unclean” in the public imagination.
  • Education and culture systematically under‑educate people in their own humanness, their character, their conscience, their spiritual reality.

This is not random. This is the statue.

To discern our times, I had to admit: the establishment I am confronting is the same beast God showed Daniel 2,600 years ago—just wearing a suit, a lanyard, and a media pass instead of royal robes and a sword.

II. I Had To Learn To See Both the Danger and the Fragility

The Real Danger: Principalities Working Through Systems

One of the most important truths I have learned is this:

Our battle is not ultimately against the journalist, the civil servant, the regulator, the judge, or the politician.

Our battle is against the spiritual architecture they are serving, whether they realise it or not.

Ephesians 6:12 describes it:

“We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

John MacArthur is crystal clear:

  • These “principalities” are high‑ranking demonic beings, not vague forces.
  • They operate through false religion, idolatry, deception, and corrupt institutions.
  • Idolatry is not neutral. It is demonically energised. When institutions embrace idols—whether literal statues or ideological idols—they open the door to spiritual influence.

So I take the danger seriously:

  • These systems can bankrupt you, smear you globally, and physically endanger you.
  • They can destroy reputations, families, and livelihoods.
  • They can make good appear evil and evil appear good, and reward the most compliant and compromised.

If you underestimate that danger, you are naive.

The Hidden Fragility: Iron and Clay, Not Titanium

But if you overestimate the establishment, you are just as deceived.

Daniel’s statue is not made of a single indestructible alloy. It ends in feet of iron mixed with clay.

MacArthur’s exposition of Daniel 2 is helpful here:

  • The iron represents the real, undeniable strength of empires like Rome and their modern successors.
  • The clay represents internal weakness, division, and instability.
  • The closer we get to the end of the statue, the more mixed and brittle it becomes.

What does that look like historically and now?

  • Multinational empires and blocs that are held together by treaties, debt, and fear, not true unity.
  • Legal and moral systems full of contradictions—saying one thing on paper, doing another in practice.
  • Institutions that talk human rights while crushing actual humans.
  • A justice system that still has all its textbooks and clever people, but from which God has begun to withdraw the spirit of justice, leaving a vicious caricature of the real thing.

I see this in courtrooms and media campaigns:

  • The establishment looks monolithic, but under pressure it contradicts itself, breaks its own rules, exposes its hypocrisy.
  • It is powerful enough to hurt you, but too brittle to endure.

And then comes the most important part of Daniel’s vision:

A stone “cut out without hands” strikes the feet—the weakest point.

MacArthur insists that this stone is Christ and His kingdom, not a human reform movement.

  • It does not come from within the statue; it comes from God.
  • It hits the foundation, not the head.
  • And when it hits, all four metals are shattered together. Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome, and all their spiritual‑political descendants are together swept away.

So yes, the establishment is dangerous. But it is also doomed and fragile. It is iron and clay pretending to be adamant.

I had to hold both truths at once:

  • If I treat it as harmless, I get destroyed.
  • If I treat it as ultimate, I get paralysed and faithless.

Biblical discernment is to see the feet of clay even while they are still kicking.

III. I Had To Learn Where My True Responsibility Lies as a Christian

Once I could see the pattern and the fragility, I still had to answer this: So what am I meant to do about it?

Am I called to raise an army and storm the palace?

Am I called to give up, move to the hills, and wait for the rapture?

Neither.

My Calling Is To Build the Body, Not a Counter‑Statue

I want to be absolutely clear: I am not trying to build a rival earthly empire to replace the establishment. That would simply be another metal in the statue.

My calling, and I believe the calling of every Christian, is:

  • To build the body of Christ—deep, accountable, sacrificial community where people grow in character, conscience, capacity, and Christlikeness.
  • To help people realise their God‑given potential in body, heart, mind, and spirit, not as a self‑help fantasy but as a life of costly obedience and service.
  • Hold tyrannical institutions and individuals accountable—calling them to repentance, exposing their lies, defending the vulnerable—without turning Christ’s Body into a political faction.

John MacArthur’s teaching on spiritual warfare has kept me grounded here. He warns against sensationalism and theatrics. Real warfare, he says, is:

  • Putting on the full armour of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer.
  • Living daily lives of obedience, holiness, and courageous witness.
  • Trusting the finished work of Christ on the cross as the decisive victory over principalities and powers.

That means my primary job is not to out‑manoeuvre the establishment politically, but to out‑obey it, out‑repent it, and out‑love it in Christ.

I Must Live as a Citizen of the Coming Kingdom of God Now

Daniel served inside pagan empires while belonging to the kingdom of God. So must I. That has practical implications:

  • Refuse idolatry:
I will not bow to the golden images of our age. Not to the idol of institutional reputation. Not to the idol of state power. Not to the idol of comfort, convenience, or personal brand. If an institution asks me to sacrifice truth or conscience on its altar, my answer must be “no,” no matter what  it costs me.
  • Tell the truth at any cost and by the grace of God:
When the establishment lies about God’s people, about victims, about those who protect the vulnerable, I am duty‑bound to document, expose, and resist those lies. That is why we have invested so much in our work through Christian and Citizen Intervention Global. Truth is not a luxury. It is a weapon of light and the substance of life. Anything else other than truth is a perversion at best of that life.
  • Re‑educate in true humanness:
If you are going to educate humans without educating them about their own humanness, you are just educating a human-replacement—humanoids, an automaton with all the human parts indoctrinated out. Where the system has trained people to pass exams without understanding their own souls, we must develop people in humanness; the four endowments of self-awareness, conscience, creative imagination and independent will, the integration of body, heart, mind, and spirit, the imago Dei, and the disciplines of growth over a lifetime. This is why Lighthouse exists. It is not an optional extra. It is direct resistance to a diabolical human growth problem.
  • Accept suffering as part of faithfulness:
When Satan offered Christ “all the kingdoms of the world,” (Matthew 4:8-10) Jesus refused. In John 18:36, He clarifies: “My kingdom is not of this world.” He rejected Satan and redeemed us through the cross. If my Master refused the KOD Satanic empire in order to establish an eternal kingdom, how can I accept the KOD Satanic empire to avoid suffering? My job is to learn, and to teach others, how to suffer and love well in preparation for His kingdom.
  • Set holy, courageous boundaries:
Love does not mean passivity. I must set clear boundaries with institutions:
    • You may not trample on the vulnerable unchecked.
    • You may not try to redefine reality at will.
    • You may not demand my silence when God calls me to speak.
  • Like Daniel and his friends, there comes a point where I must say, “We will not bow. Do what you must.”

Silence in the face of evil is evil itself. This is how we, as Christians, quietly withdraw our worship and our fear from the statue and give them back to the Stone. Christ has given us a commission to share the gospel and very clearly to put to the sword anything that gets in the way of that gospel, to deal with the obstacles in the way, or the attacks against it.

I Must Fight From Victory, Not For It

Finally, MacArthur’s teaching on Colossians 2:15 has been crucial to me:

Christ “disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in Him.”

The key word for me is disarmed. The establishment still has guns, courts, cameras, and cash. But spiritually, the powers behind it have been disarmed at the cross. They are on borrowed time. They are thrashing, not reigning. We see their posturing and their performances.

So I do not engage the BBC, regulators, or any other part of the establishment as if the outcome is in doubt. The statue will fall. The stone will stand. The only question is:

Will I be part of the statue, or am I part of the Stone?

It can’t be both. That shapes my responsibility:

  • I stand firm, even when I am slandered.
  • I continue documenting and exposing, not because I think I am the saviour, but because I am bearing witness to what the Saviour has already judged and defeated.
  • I pray for my enemies in the establishment—genuinely desiring their repentance and salvation—even as I hold them to account.

My intention is not to save the statue.

My intention is to call people out of the statue and onto the Rock.

IV. My Plea to You

So let me end where Daniel ends, and where my own journey has led me.

The establishment—Babylon, Rome, the Pharisees, modern media‑state complexes, counterfeit religious and secular systems—is one statue with many faces. It has real power. It has done unspeakable harm. It is doing so now.

But its feet are iron and clay.

It will fall.

Christ will reign.

My plea to you is:

  1. Do not be naive about the statue. Don’t be blindsided by the establishment.
Study Daniel. Study history. Study what is being done to you and your children. Understand the architecture of this world’s system and the Kingdom of Darkness establishment that governs it.
  2. Do not be hypnotised by the statue.
Do not believe the myth of its invincibility. Do not let it define your identity, your value, your destiny.
  3. Come to the Stone.
Align your life, your potential, your relationships, your work, with Jesus Christ and His kingdom. Build what He is building: a people, a body, an eternal house.
  4. Take responsibility as a Christian.
Grow deeply. Protect the vulnerable. Tell the truth. Set boundaries. Accept suffering. Pray and obey. Live as if the kingdom of God is more real than the BBC, than Parliament, than any court, than any bank.

Because it is.

The statue will fall.

Christ will reign.

The only question is: Where will you be when the stone strikes the feet?

In Jesus’ name,

This is a stunning, deeply grounded and invaluable insight Paul. Thank you – and the whole team behind this insight, delivered powerfully with great detail and description.

An absolute masterclass from Paulie and everyone behind today’s article on the statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream. I’ve not seen or heard such a clear and surgical breakdown of this…

What stood out to me I believe is captured in this portion:

“I had to hold both truths at once:

If I treat it as harmless, I get destroyed.
If I treat it as ultimate, I get paralysed and faithless.
Biblical discernment is to see the feet of clay even while they are still kicking.”

That is brilliant. I know I have been engulfed more in the latter, as treating it as ultimate because I see it in front of me and because I have been so conditioned in fear. There is obviously so much more to this article, but I wanted to share this as the main thing that has struck me. Also one thing I was listening to a sermon from John MacArthur earlier talking about the armour of God and he reinforced that the shoes of the peace of the gospel are exactly that; enabling us to walk in and on peace. Knowing that we have been totally reconciled with God and His wrath. Whereas the establishment walk seemingly cocky, arrogant, ruling for now, but they walk on feet that are breaking apart.

To everyone involved in this article and the daily updates, thank you. Thank you for making a plan and enabling Paul to rest and heal while his wisdom can still be shared. God bless that man.

This is a strong, sober piece with a clear and righteous voice. It struck me how real what you are telling us is, yet because it is so vast, it is easy to deny that reality. Daniel’s vision is powerful indeed—not merely for past ages, but for right now.
What stands out most is your restraint and maturity, using MacArthur’s commentary judiciously while holding the tension between recognising real danger and refusing to grant the establishment ultimate power. The conclusion calls the reader to responsibility and faithfulness rather than fear, urging us to move towards God—and to do so swiftly. This is a blessing, thank you so much!!!

I can feel the depth to which this article has been written. I say that because Paul helps us see the reality of Daniel’s statue by breaking it down, piece by piece. I love the story of Daniel and have read it a few times, but have never looked at it in great depth as Paul has.

I have to admit, this is testing me and my ability to take something in, but that is good, because the only way I’m going to grow is to be challenged and to challenge myself and this is what I’m finding when reading the Bible. God is showing us so much, helping us learn from the past, and to see how what He has written is happening now, at this very moment in no time. This is what the establishment did/does not want, they don’t want thinkers, they want robots. Paul is helping me and all of us become thinkers and use the parts of our brains that have been dormant.

Thank you Paul and all who are involved in bringing these articles together. They are priceless

God bless us all x x

This is an incredible set of insights that links all that was laid out in scripture thousands of years ago to the present day. I say that, but many Christians and non-Christians will not be aware of this. I am blown away at how reliable the Bible is when it comes to predictions. This article is both a warning and a call to action.

My experience at Lighthouse over the last 5 years has shown me that the institutions I was raised to trust were actually ones that are there to limit and control. I say that based on real-life experiences and solid evidence. World events are consistent with scripture, yet so many refuse to act accordingly.

I appreciate how Paul is laying out very practical action steps moving forward. Ignorance is most definitely not bliss, there are real dangers to be aware of and to face. We can’t be naive, the Body of Christ needs to come together.

Thank you, Paul. This is an incredible update and has left me with much to ponder and deeply reflect on. I really appreciate the personal questions we must all face, and your dedication to what Daniel went through, with the standards being the same for us. May God be with each and every one of us, in Jesus’ name, amen. x x

This is so powerful, Paul is showing us that the “Establishment” isn’t something new or random, but part of a long, discernible pattern over centuries. Seeing it through Daniel’s statue shows the Establishment has been in one form or another for centuries. This isn’t some conspiracy theory but showing how Satan has used indirect means to build power structures that are opaque to us, but he is controlling the masses like a puppet master through centuries of old curtains which we can’t see. Churchill coined the Iron Curtain but Satan is behind and created the Establishment’s hierarchical institutional and layered curtains.

Wow. This article was incredibly clarifying. Paul’s unpacking of Daniel’s statue — especially the rock cut without human hands — helped that passage come alive in a way I’ve never quite grasped before. One distinction that really struck me was the idea of media functioning like a priesthood, deciding who is “clean” or “unclean” in the public imagination. That feels painfully accurate and deeply revealing.

I was also challenged by the call to hold two truths at once: not treating the system as harmless, but not treating it as ultimate either. That balance — sober, discerning, and faith-filled — feels both wise and necessary. Thank you Paul for this depth and clarity. And thank You to our Lord.

What I love about this is how it’s getting us all to look at the establishment today, as we ought to, with a biblical perspective and using scripture. God has been foreseeing and forewarning us and telling us what is going to happen and the world we would see today for thousands of years. What I feel is so crucial in what you’re sharing here Paul is the clarity and balance that’s needed in recognising both the danger and the fragility of the establishment we are all facing. Not being educated on this and united behind it as a Body of Christ, is what leaves us so vulnerable and open to destructive attacks.

That the establishment isn’t rolling around on chariots and wielding swords sacking and burning cities anymore but is walking around in “a suit, a lanyard, and a media pass instead” is a profound truth every Christian ought and needs to be very aware of. Every time we, as Christians, open a newspaper, watch the “news”, stream something online, go on social media, we need to be acutely aware of the systems they are all part of and the spirit and entities that are governing those systems and platforms.

But when you said our primary job is, “not to out‑manoeuvre the establishment politically, but to out‑obey it, out‑repent it, and out‑love it in Christ.” I just thought, wow! BOOM! In that is where I see the spiritual battle being fought and won and the spiritual weapons that Christ has given us. And when we turn to scripture, God has given us the model and the example! Daniel served inside pagan empires while belonging to the kingdom of God. So must we! It’s that distinction you’ve made Paul about disarming the establishment and those who persecute and try to destroy us that’s hugely powerful.. this is about helping us all to realise the reality of the spiritual war and where and how we need to be fighting it! God bless all who pick up their cross and join in that 🙏✝️

Agreed re looking at the Establishment through a biblical perspective. I appreciated Paulie saying today part of the Establishment’s voice is a lanyard and a suit – it’s the same dark force just dressed up differently!

Thank you for this huge and important article. Daniel’s statue with its fragile base shows so clearly that systems built on arrogance, self-interest, and deception cannot endure. When the foundation is weak, everything above it must eventually fall. Thinking of the establishment in this way makes the realities we’re seeing now feel less random and more connected to a spiritual moment of revelation.

What stands out powerfully here is the contrast between kingdoms of this world and the coming Kingdom of God. It makes it more obvious that any structure or institution that does not have Christ as its cornerstone is ultimately insecure.

This article expresses things I’ve felt but struggled to articulate. It’s a massive reinforcer to remain spiritually grounded, and ready to be part of God’s unfolding work in the world.

This also reinforces how vital it is to help our children grow with a clear, godly foundation, something the current Kingdom of Darkness system simply cannot provide.

God bless

This article is very timely for where we currently are in our world. The establishment, with its inner fragility, insecurity and instability, still uses its perceived power, threats and attacks to control citizens, yet we are greater in number than this handful of people in power.

We are of great threat as an informed, educated and courageous body, and in Christ, even more of a threat. This is why these articles from Paul, are critical for everyone in the body of Christ to receive, understand, and put into action with others.
Thank you to the late Mr MacArthur for his insights also to wake us up to remember who is sovereign, who has already won the victory and who holds the true power. God rest his soul.
