Article Summary
- Part Six of this series turns from the system exposed in Part Five to the condition within us: humanity’s (attempted) diabolical self-sovereignty.
- Paul S. Waugh explains how Lighthouse Global reached this understanding by confronting the same rebellion, pride and self-reliance within ourselves first.
- There is a contradiction in claiming God’s qualities — goodness, truth, love and righteousness — while denying their source and reserving the right to define them for ourselves.
- Diabolical self-sovereignty never delivers sovereignty. It separates the human being from God and makes the isolated self increasingly controllable by fear, temptation, approval and the systems of this world.

In Part Five, I showed how Satan’s world-system blinds, limits and diabolically controls humanity. Now we must turn from the system outside us to the condition inside us.
What have we become? Or rather, what have we been made to become?
We have been made into being diabolically self-sovereign. Or at least we think we have.
The human being cannot actually become sovereign. We did not create ourselves, make the laws that hold creation together, or acquire the power to regenerate our souls and prevent our deaths. Yet we live as though we possess final authority to define truth, goodness, love, justice, identity, purpose and even God Himself.
That is the original satanic offer. It is also the central human delusion.
This Work Began in Grief
Before I take that condition apart, I must tell you where this work began in me. It did not stem from a claim against the BBC, the Daily Mail, the Insolvency Service, hostile families, compromised churches or the anti-Christ Establishment cult. This work began as grief. And reader, brother and sister in Christ, I must tell you there is a very good, painful reason as to why I have dedicated nearly all of my life to this work.

From childhood, I could not bear the suffering I saw around me. I saw it in children, animals, adults, families and whole communities. I saw people hurting one another, abandoning one another and becoming less human while calling what they were becoming ‘normal life’. I could not escape it; it was everywhere.
For decades I studied personal development, leadership, business, human potential and every available means by which a person might grow. I wanted to become the man who could say “yes” where love and responsibility required a “yes”. I wanted to alleviate suffering by developing the strength, knowledge, character and resources to do something about it.
By many worldly standards, I did well, but I still hit an inescapable ceiling. No amount of self-development could resolve the problem of the self trying to develop itself while remaining its own final authority. Knowledge, technique and effort increased while pride, fear, self-protection and resistance remained.

Eventually the question could no longer remain, “What is wrong with the world?” It had to become: Is that in me?
Is that pride, cowardice, manipulation, fear of man, self-deception and desire for control in me? When I see people protecting reputation over truth, refusing correction or claiming goodness while producing destructive fruit, where have I done the same?

Scripture leaves no room for an untouchable observer: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
If this series becomes a sophisticated means of identifying diabolical self-sovereignty everywhere except in Paul S. Waugh and Lighthouse Global, it will become another expression of the very rebellion it claims to expose. More truth without more repentance does not make us more righteous.
I do not need Christ as an accessory to an already adequate life. I need Him as Saviour. We all do.
The First Claim of Diabolical Self-Sovereignty
The foundational lie is not simply that God does not exist. A person can believe that God exists and still organise life around themselves. They may believe in God as comfort, helper, provider, emergency service or guarantor of the life they have already chosen.
The deeper rebellion is against God’s sovereignty.

As I wrote in Part 4, the Greatest Truth is The Divine, Eternal, Infinite, Universal Sovereign God. The Second Greatest Truth is that there is Satanic opposition to Him, centred in diabolical self-sovereignty.
In Eden, Satan offered humanity what Satan had already claimed for himself: “You will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:5). The temptation was not merely to break one rule. It was to seize the right to decide what the rule should be. It was the claim that the creation could interpret reality and determine good and evil independently of the Creator.
That same rebellion appears in Lucifer’s declaration: “I will make myself like the most High” (Isaiah 14:14). He could not overthrow God, replace God or acquire God’s sovereignty. But he could rebel against it, separate himself from it and entice others into the same impossible claim.
Diabolical self-sovereignty is therefore not healthy agency, responsible choice or legitimate authority. God grants real and bounded authority to parents, elders, church leaders, magistrates, employers and individuals. We have genuine responsibility before Him. The sin begins when the human being claims an authority God never granted, over a domain God never assigned, answerable finally to the self rather than to God.
It is the self attempting to act as final judge of truth, final author of meaning, final standard of goodness and final negotiator with or instead of God.
Claiming God’s Qualities While Denying God
Today the contradiction became even more stark.
How can we reject or hate God while claiming His qualities in order to call ourselves good?
We say, “I am a good person.” Good according to whom? Measured against what? Flowing from what source? We want goodness as a possession of the self while resisting the objectively Good One. We want truthfulness without submitting to the Person of Truth. We want love without its divine source, definition, sacrifice and command. We want justice without the Judge, righteousness without repentance and glory without giving glory to God.
We have attempted to take qualities that belong to and flow from God and declare them self-generated virtues. Then the self decides what each word means: love protects my preferred view of myself, truth becomes what I will accept, justice vindicates only my side, and goodness becomes the favourable verdict I pronounce upon myself. That is the attempted appropriation of God’s qualities while denying His authority over them. As the Scripture in Judges warns: “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes” (Judges 17:6 and 21:25).

Jesus Christ confronted this directly: “There is none good but one, that is, God” (Mark 10:18). He was not denying that human beings can do things that are relatively good. He was locating the source and standard of goodness where it belongs. God is not good because He meets a standard; He IS the standard. God is the absolute source and measure of the good.
Once goodness is detached from God, however, the self can rename cowardice as prudence, control as care, false witness as a valid opinion and institutional propaganda as public interest.

But the self has not become good. It has claimed the sovereignty to redefine goodness around itself.
The God We Manufacture Around the Self
Diabolical self-sovereignty also changes how we see God.
If the self remains the practical centre, God must be made to orbit it. He is welcomed when He blesses our plan, relieves pain or protects reputation; but when His Word exposes us, His commandments cost us or His sovereignty challenges the life we have arranged, we try to negotiate. We call Jesus “Lord” while retaining provinces in which His lordship may not operate.

That is Christianity reorganised around the self, not God.
Christ did not call us to add Him to our sovereignty. He said, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24). The cross is not an improvement programme for the self acting as final authority. It is the abolition of that claim in its entirety.
Satan Promises Self-Rule and Delivers System-Rule
This is where the promise collapses into its opposite.
The human being rejects God’s sovereignty in the name of independence and becomes increasingly dependent on everything beneath God. The isolated self needs approval, reputation, money, access, security, entertainment, institutional permission and protection from pain. It becomes controllable through family and social pressure, threat of peer rejection and humiliation, professional consequences, temptation and addiction, debt, fear and the gullibility in relation to authorised Establishment narratives.
The person says, “Nobody tells me what to do,” while being directed by fashion, algorithms, lusts, anxiety, mainstream media toxic framing and fear of other people. They claim to define themselves using categories and labels supplied by the culture and claim freedom while depending on institutions for identity, validation and permission.
That is why Scripture warns: “There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.” (Proverbs 14:12).
Diabolical self-sovereignty does not eliminate authority.
Diabolical self-sovereignty rejects the Father and leaves the person exposed to masters who do not love them. It does not give the human being a secure identity. It separates them from the One in whose image they were made. It does not produce strength. It creates a frightened, self-protective and governable isolation.
The fully evidenced reality is that Satan’s offer of self-sovereignty is the mechanism by which genuine freedom is surrendered.
What Lighthouse Global Found in Ourselves
Myself and the team at Lighthouse Global did not arrive at this conclusion by standing safely outside it. We found it through failure, correction, suffering, conflict, repentance and the long exposure of what knowledge alone could not change.
We saw people understand a principle yet avoid applying it, use intelligence to rationalise what they ought to confront, ask for help and then resist truthful help. We saw loyalty substitute for truth and belonging become an escape from individual responsibility before God. And even when people did improve, it would not last.
I saw how my own determination, intensity and appetite for growth could still be organised around self, even with the best intentions. I saw there was a ceiling to trying to build the optimal human life without absolute surrender to the sovereign God. That is why the journey into Christ was not a religious adjustment to our work at Lighthouse Global. It was the exposure of the foundation on which every human project must finally stand or fall.
The question became: Where do I still make myself the final authority, claim goodness rather than submit to God, or want Christ’s salvation without His sovereignty?
The Question That Leads Into Part Seven
Here, then, is the human condition.
We are not sovereign, yet we imagine ourselves to be. We depend upon God while claiming independence, appropriate His qualities while refusing His authority, and pronounce ourselves good while reserving the right to redefine good and evil. In rejecting the only sovereignty that can rightly order freedom, we become controlled by lesser powers.
Why can we not see the contradiction?
Why can an intelligent, educated and religious person remain blind to the condition governing their life? Why do we resist the truth that could free us? Why do we defend the self that is separating us from God? And how can evil appear righteous, loving and glorious while remaining inwardly full of corruption?
Coming next, Part Seven will examine how diabolical self-sovereignty becomes an internal prison: how the imperceptible satanically induced stupor blinds us, how the toxically deluded over-inflated self assures us that we are already full and good, and how evil parades as an angel of light while we become too stupid to see it and too proud to admit it.
The answer is not the destruction of the human person. It is the human person restored under God in Christ. Paul the Apostle writes: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20).
That is life rightly ordered.
God is sovereign. Christ is Lord. Truth is not ours to negotiate. Goodness is not ours to reinvent. And the beginning of freedom is the end of the delusion that we can ever become what Satan promised.
You are all in our prayers.
Yours faithfully,
Paul S. Waugh

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” (Matthew 16:24)
I am seeing this cross I must carry more clearly than ever. It is extremely heavy, riddled with splinters and nails. It is too much for me to carry so I’ve tried to ignore it for too long. But with my Lord and Saviour, I know I can. Especially with the support of this community. God bless you Paul. Thank you so much for this piercing and necessary education.
This latest part was very intimate and personal. The origins of our work at Lighthouse Global was nowhere to be seen in the BBC’s A Very British Cult. For anyone with a heart, soul and conscience, it’s clear why.
Firstly those with a conscience will see who we are and what we’re about. Secondly they’ll get to see who the BBC are through what they attack and how they go about it.
I’m looking forward to us reaching more and more of our brothers and sisters in Christ with these critical lessons we are digging up and bring to the surface through our research and experiences.
Whoah, this is such an incredibly powerful article and God bless Paul for his honesty. Our diabolical self-sovereignty will want to look at everyone outside of ourseles but not look at ourselves, because it maes our self feel better and more powerful and compunds our self soveignty. It is a ever increasing doom cycle. What I’ve also taken is how we want to call ourselves Good while denying the source of that property which is another trait of our diabolical self sovereignty.
The Establishment has done a lot of damage to human beings and caused a great deal of suffering through its satanic aims and behaviour. Recognising how much its indoctrination has led us to a state of believing in self-sovereignty, instead of seeing the reality of God’s sovereignty, allows us to recognise its propaganda and make decisions based on truth and reality.
A big thank you to Paul S. Waugh for uncovering and recognising the state we are in as humanity and for helping me to see more clearly the root causes of our problems. We can, and need to, correct the falsified public record as Christians and as members of the public.
Thank you, and God bless.
Thank you for this, Paul. I was reading Colossians 3:3–4 the other day, and it really stood out to me that Christ lives through us. This points to what you’re sharing and to the scripture in Galatians. We were not made for this world, but for out of this world, and the more we come to recognise that, the better.
Thank you for sharing these really stark and convicting truths, and ones that require deep reflection and repentance. God bless you and us all. Thank you.
“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” — Colossians 3:3–4
Thank you Paul for such a vulnerable and humble piece that shows so much of your character and what you have considered about yourself first. There’s a great deal of integrity to not be pointing the finger but to actually have pointed it at yourself as well. The establishment and the BBC should take a leaf from your book
Thank you for the clarification on the fact that we think we have become diabolically self-sovereign… we believe we have but the human being cannot actually become sovereign.
Like everything Satan does, it is another of his counterfeit ruses and we have bought the delusion totally.
Whilst we go through life believing we have autonomous authority, we leave ourselves extremely vulnerable and exposed to Satanic influence.
This series is indispensable for us to truly know what is truly keeping us captive and how we can now choose to live in true freedom by recognising the truth of God’s sovereignty.
The central truth is undeniable: genuine freedom cannot come from making ourselves sovereign; it comes from surrendering to God’s sovereignty and allowing Christ to restore us.I really appreciate how honestly it turns the question back onto ourselves, because it is so easy to identify pride, deception and rebellion in others while refusing to confront them in ourselves.
Thank you for such wisdom here and things that are just not spoken about, taught, discussed enough in this world, if at all, in terms of looking in and at ourselves and who we truly are, not who we want to think we are. Christ tells us, “You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” He also tells us to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” so to think that we can be the source of our own goodness and be sovereign will be eternally devastating for us, if we don’t check that.
I feel this is something the Body of Christ needs to hear, be reminded of and to really embrace in order to step up to serve God at the highest possible levels. It’s not just about knowing the truth, its what we do with that truth and I loved your line: “more truth without more repentance does not make us more righteous.” I am learning more all the time about what it is that God has created us to be, what He expects and requires from us and how much more I need to see in myself in order to purge myself of the self sovereignty paradigms, beliefs and attitudes I grew up with from the world. Really appreciate this article, thank you 🙏
The establishment has a lot to answer for. Why I say that is because of where we are in ourselves and as humanity. They have controlled us without us knowing and have educated us out of the one person who we ought to have been committed, God. It is therefore our responsibility to make things right, to repent and to put our trust and faith in God alone.
What you have been sharing in this series, it has been and is hard to take in, as I have said, because it is making me look at myself when I have tried hard not to. Now it is essential. God bless you Paul, and all involved in putting this series together…
I resonate with the initial starting point Paul had. I looked at the world and thought ‘Is this the best we can do?’ Why is it some countries have such a high standard of living, while others have such a low level?
Seeing the diabolical attribution of God’s sovereignty to ourselves helps answer that question, because if we are allowed to define ‘good and evil’ for ourselves, then anything goes – like ‘Woke’ culture demonstrates.
Thank you for this very clear direction.
