Part Six exposed our attempted diabolical self-sovereignty: the claim that we may define truth, goodness, love, justice and God around ourselves. That leaves an unavoidable question. If the contradiction is so stark, why can intelligent, educated and supposedly God-fearing people not see it? How can institutions parade as loving and righteous while producing destruction, and how can human beings defend the condition separating them from God?

The answer is deeply grievous.

We have become stupid and evil.

I am not using those words as cheap insults. I am not standing outside humanity pointing down at everybody else. I include myself. I include Lighthouse Global. I include the whole fallen human condition. Scripture does not flatter us, and neither should we flatter ourselves when eternal realities are at stake. We are all indoctrinated to be stupid and evil, but what differentiates us is whether we genuinely repent and regenerate in Christ.

We must define the terms properly. Otherwise, we will use them to condemn other people while remaining blind to what they mean in us.

What Do I Mean by Stupid?

Stupidity is not simply a low intelligence quotient, lack of education or inability to remember facts. Some of the most credentialled people in the world can be profoundly stupid in their relationship with reality and with God.

Stupidity is intelligence divorced from truth, conscience, humility, application and right action. It is possessing information without allowing it to confront what is false, harmful and self-destructive; knowing words without entering their meaning and repeating principles without embodying them. A person can quote Scripture while refusing to face themselves, possess thousands of documents while protecting a predetermined narrative, or understand procedure while remaining blind to justice.

That is not a shortage of data. It is a broken relationship with truth.

The Apostle Paul describes the condition with devastating precision: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22). Their problem was not that no truth was available. Their claim to wisdom operated as protection against the truth confronting them.

This is where the ISIS syndrome begins to help us understand the condition.

ISIS: The Stupor That Cannot See Itself

ISIS is the

Imperceptible

Satanically

Induced

Stupor

It is imperceptible because the person does not properly perceive that they are in it; the blindness assures them they can see.

It is satanically induced because deception is not neutral: Jesus Christ called Satan “a liar, and the father of lies” (John 8:44), and the god of this world blinds minds against the truth that leads to repentance and life.

It is a stupor because a person may be physically awake and professionally functional while spiritually and morally asleep. Information enters but does not become knowledge, knowledge does not become action, and action does not mature into wisdom.

We have witnessed this repeatedly in our work at Lighthouse. A person can have a profound realisation on Monday and be functionally unchanged by Wednesday. They can say, “Wow, I can see it,” yet when the same condition appears in their life, family, work or relationship with God, they do not bring the truth to account. The insight remains beside them rather than becoming part of them.

That is why ISIS, this stupor, is so difficult to confront. The person may understand the definition of ISIS while remaining in an imperceptible, satanically induced stupor about ISIS.

What’s at the centre of ISIS is a stupid relationship with the greatest opportunity of living an eternal life under God’s sovereignty and the fullest realisation of our God-given potential. Under this stupor, however, we neither recognise that opportunity nor seriously pursue it. Instead, with ISIS, one day just blends into another. We don’t know where we stand in relation to the big issue of God’s sovereignty, our relationship with that in line with the opportunity of living a peak life for eternity.

When Reality Becomes a Blob

Under that stupor, reality loses definition.

God becomes a vague religious idea, Christ merely a comforting idol, love a pleasant feeling, conscience anxiety, and correction an attack. Safeguarding and public interest become whatever powerful institutions say they are. Everything becomes a blob, and the person can no longer reliably distinguish love from control, evidence from narrative, remorse from repentance or goodness from its performance.

This is immensely useful to an anti-Christ system. After all they made us this way. The system does not always have to make people believe an explicit lie. It can blur the distinctions by which the lie would be recognised. If care, love, truth and justice have no objective content under God, then the most destructive act can be carried out beneath one of those labels, as all true evil is.

The ISIS-indoctrinated person sees the label and assumes the reality.

That is stupidity in its spiritually induced form: not merely failing to know, but being unable to perceive what the words and appearances are concealing.

Secular psychology has observed a limited reflection of this condition in what became known as the Dunning–Kruger Effect. In their 1999 study, David Dunning and Justin Kruger found that poor performers could also lack the competence required to recognise the extent of their poor performance. The same deficit that impaired their judgement impaired their ability to assess that judgement accurately. The Dunning-Kruger Effect corroborates one important reality: human limitation can conceal itself from the person experiencing it. We may lack knowledge while also lacking the awareness necessary to know that we lack it.

That is where stupidity and TDOS meet.

TDOS: Believing We Are Full While Starving

ISIS, as a condition, does not work alone. It operates with TDOS: the Toxically Deluded, Over-inflated Self.

I’ll explain this through a very simple picture. Imagine someone who has not eaten for ten days but believes they are completely full. Their body is starving, but their perception tells them they need nothing. Place nourishing food in front of them, and they will refuse it—not because they have eaten, but because the delusion of fullness has destroyed their appetite for what they need.

If you think this sounds ludicrous and doesn’t apply to you, then you are self-deceived, and that is exactly where the Anti-Christ Establishment Cult wants you.

That is TDOS.

Toxic

Deluded

Overinflated

Self

We all suffer from this; it’s just to what degree.

A person may be spiritually starving while believing they know God, know almost nothing about themselves while claiming great self-awareness, or remain uneducated in love, conscience, truth and responsibility while believing credentials make them educated.

The inflation can also run in the other direction. A person can exaggerate their badness, weakness or incapacity and call that humility. If the view is false, it remains toxic. Believing ourselves better than we are and believing ourselves worse than we are can both keep us separated from the truth God requires us to face.

The toxic part is crucial. A delusion is not simply an inaccurate description sitting harmlessly in the mind. It works against the person. It prevents nourishment, correction, repentance, learning, relationship and growth. It makes what is bad worse and corrupts what could have been good.

ISIS hides the starvation through the deception of the stupor, while TDOS declares the starving self full. ISIS obscures the gap; TDOS, that toxic self, takes pride in the condition and experiences correction as a threat to the image of self. Together they form an internal prison whose inmate begins defending the bars.

Evil Does Not Usually Look Evil

Now we must turn to evil, because this is where our usual understanding is catastrophically inadequate.

Evil is active opposition to the objective Good, but it rarely announces itself in those terms. Satan does not usually approach the human being looking hateful, degraded and obviously demonic. Scripture warns us that “Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light” and that his ministers appear as “ministers of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:14–15).

That is how evil remains hidden in plain sight.

It appears righteous, loving, glorious, protective and morally necessary, using the language of God’s qualities while opposing God’s reality underneath.

Jesus Christ’s description of the scribes and Pharisees is exact: “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.” (Matthew 23:27).

Outwardly beautiful. Inwardly full of uncleanness.

The white exterior is not incidental. It is what gives the corruption credibility and protection. If evil always looked evil, it would be much easier to resist. Its great power is its ability to make the person participating in it feel self-righteous.

A false witness may feel courageous, a betraying family member protective or caring, a journalist destroying a reputation justified and a church silencing painful truth may feel a great sense of togetherness. Evil’s power lies partly in enabling those who participate to experience themselves as righteous, and in many ways, diabolically self-sovereign.

Evil borrows the appearance of good because it has no goodness of its own.

The Angel-of-Light Syndrome in Us

This is not only about institutions. The angel-of-light syndrome begins inside the human being.

We are trained to appear good rather than become good in and through Christ. We build the white front through correct language, managed impressions and vague false humility admissions of imperfection that never name how we harmed another person. We can denounce dishonesty while practising self-deception and expose another person’s hypocrisy to feel more sincere, using concern, doctrine and moral outrage as costumes for the self.

The Pharisees did not look like villains. They looked righteous. They possessed Scripture, standing, religious language and public credibility. Yet when Christ exposed what lay beneath the presentation, the supposedly righteous men conspired to crucify the Righteous One as a criminal.

That is the warning.

The whiter-than-white presentation is not proof of goodness. Sometimes it is evidence that enormous energy has been invested in ensuring the inside is never examined.

At Lighthouse Global, I have had to face the difference between reputation and credibility. Reputation is what other people have been persuaded to believe about someone; credibility is what truth, evidence, character and conduct establish about them.

A reputation may be deserved or undeserved, accurate or completely false. Judas acquired a terrible reputation that was warranted. God has acquired a terrible reputation that is not warranted.

Much of the world regards God as a myth, a fiction, a tyrant or a mental construction. Others claim to worship Him while reshaping Him around their own religion, preferences and attempted self-sovereignty. That dreadful reputation reveals nothing defective in God’s character. It reveals how comprehensively fallen humanity has denied, distorted and falsely represented Him. God remains perfectly credible even where His reputation has been most violently destroyed in the eyes of deeply sinful and imperfect human beings.

Why, then, should we be surprised when those who defend God’s sovereignty and challenge that distortion acquire terrible reputations among those who hate what He represents? In fighting for the truth about God, we have placed our own names in direct conflict with people and institutions protecting diabolical self-sovereignty. God has a terrible reputation. So do we. We are in great company. We are fighting for His reputation — and in fighting for His reputation, we ruined our own.

But let me be absolutely clear. When I acknowledge my sin, attempted self-sovereignty and need for repentance before God, I am not admitting guilt concerning the provably and evidentially false allegations made against me or Lighthouse Global. Those allegations must be judged individually against the complete evidence. Christian repentance is not a blank cheque allowing enemies to attach their accusations to my confession of being a fallen human being. I have sinned and require Christ’s atonement; that does not make a false allegation true.

Nor does being attacked automatically make me right. A hostile reputation is not proof of innocence any more than a prestigious reputation is proof of credibility. Claims must be tested. Evidence must be examined in full context. Conduct must be scrutinised. Falsehoods must be corrected, whether they flatter us or condemn us.

This is where the angel-of-light syndrome becomes so dangerous. Evil depends upon doing wrong while appearing right. It protects reputation when credibility cannot withstand examination, while destroying the reputation of anyone whose evidence threatens that appearance. Christian credibility therefore does not come from pretending to be sinless—or from accepting accusations merely to appear humble. It comes from truthful repentance where repentance is required, an unflinching rejection of falsehood where falsehood has been alleged, and conduct that bears fruit consistent with the truth.

How Stupidity and Evil Work Together

We can now see the relationship.

The thread of stupidity runs through ISIS: the person cannot discern what lies beneath the appearance, apply what they know or properly perceive their condition. The thread of evil runs through TDOS: the self preserves its imagined goodness, authority and innocence by resisting correction and repentance in the process.

These must not be flattened into one thing. Some people are profoundly deceived and stupefied; they need patient education, protection and help. Degrees of knowledge, intention, power and responsibility matter before God. The moral crisis intensifies as truth repeatedly arrives. When evidence and contradiction are presented, does the person investigate and repent, or omit, reframe, attack and hide? Stupidity cannot discern the evil beneath apparent good, while TDOS assures the person to believe that they are already good. Evil exploits both conditions while its participants continue experiencing themselves as loving, righteous and innocent.

This is why Isaiah cries: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20).

Inversion does not merely persuade people to accept evil. It teaches them to experience opposition to evil as evil. The truth-teller becomes dangerous. Correction becomes abuse. Sacrificial love and care become control. The person offering nourishment is treated as the threat, while the system maintaining the starvation is trusted as protector.

That is the internal prison functioning exactly as designed.

That is the Anti-Christ Establishment Cult’s Human Limitation Conspiracy in action.

The Prisoner Guards the Prison

Once ISIS and TDOS are working together, the external prison no longer requires constant enforcement.

Fear of man regulates and restricts freedom of speech, reputation suffocates courage, addictions control attention and institutional standing neuters our desire to question. The person polices themselves: suppressing the question, avoiding evidence, deferring to status and attacking whoever exposes the contradiction.

This is how a society can possess more information than any previous generation while becoming less able to act wisely.

The issue is not information alone. It is our relationship with truth — and therefore our relationship with Christ.

Christ Does Not Improve the Whitewashed Front

The answer is not better reputation management, more sophisticated self-promotion or religious language added to TDOS. The whitewashed front must come down.

Jesus said: “No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3). Notice that regeneration and sight are joined. The person does not merely need additional facts. They need the Spirit of God to bring sight where there was stupor, humility where there was inflation, repentance where there was self-protection and reality where there was performance.

Christ does not ask us to prove that we are already good. He calls us to come into the light. He does not confirm the diabolical sovereignty of the self. He frees us from its impossible burden. He restores conscience, teaches us to love truth, joins us to His Body and calls us into responsible action under God.

This is why the diagnosis of ISIS and TDOS must begin with grief rather than contempt. We have all participated in this condition. We have all hidden, inflated, avoided, rationalised and mistaken appearance for reality. But we are not required to remain there.

The question is whether we will continue defending the whitewashed tomb—or allow Jesus Christ to expose, forgive, cleanse and regenerate what is within.

In the final analysis, we have become stupid because we cannot rightly perceive and apply truth, and evil because the self uses the appearance of righteousness to oppose the objective Good. ISIS keeps us from seeing; TDOS assures us we already see and are already full; Satan’s angel-of-light inversion makes the prison appear righteous.

But Christ is the true Light. When He exposes and reveals what we have become, the answer is not to retreat into whitewashed darkness but to repent, receive His mercy, enter truthful fellowship and begin the long work of regeneration under The Divine, Eternal, Infinite, Universal Sovereign God.

Finally, they deceived the British public by denying that we had proactively approached them for months, even though we have full evidence of this!

Since discovering the broadcast in August 2022, we have spent 4 years demanding the BBC give us a comprehensive right to reply by broadcasting our full evidence to all 140+ false claims made in A Very British Cult, with the same time, effort and money as our false accusers.

I have asked countless times for myself, Paul S. Waugh, who is behind the 22 years of empirical research at Lighthouse Global, to present the full facts, evidence and context live and unedited in real time under the bright lights of the studio. I have challenged the BBC to bring their best journalists, their lawyers, all their sources, all their experts and all their evidence. I’ll bring mine and the aim of this would be simple: to get to the truth.

Yet they simply won’t entertain this, because it was a hit piece.

We’ve demanded this comprehensive right to reply, we’ve pursued all the formal complaint channels, we’ve taken legal advice, we’ve campaigned, we’ve written, we’ve protested, we’re now lobbying, we’re now advocating and doing advocacy work as well as building institutes.

Why?

In order that we, as Christians and members of the public, in the public and human interest, are able to correct the falsified public record.

It’s got to the stage where they cannot even afford to bring attention to our website through their continued efforts in trying to destroy us.

They know that whatever they do is validating us. Any attention they create makes us even more relevant, because we are relevant. As our articles show, our research and work is wholeheartedly in the public interest because it is in the human interest, and ultimately in God’s interest, for His Glory.

Whenever they publish some trash about us, they drive hordes of people to our websites, especially those who are seeking the truth.

As a result they’ve even removed the TV broadcast of A Very British Cult from BBC iPlayer. They’ve been talking about doing a follow-up series for years now, but it keeps getting delayed because they can’t have a real, evidence-based conversation with me.

They simply cannot afford to give us the same time, money, resources and reach to respond to their provably slanderous falsehoods.

We have the evidence in hundreds of thousands of pages to counter their nonsense and the BBC know it.

There’s only one way they can put out as many falsehoods as they have about someone like us. That’s when the party they’re smearing has no voice, no reach and doesn’t have the same resources as the BBC.

Yet for the BBC to atrociously abuse and lie about members of the public, us and others, means we don’t owe them a licence fee. They owe us a refund, and they owe us compensation!

This is not just for us at Lighthouse Global, it’s for the entire British public who’ve been deceived for the last 100 years. We will expose every lie that the public has been forced to pay for.

This will be the work of the institutions that we’re creating.

Through the Class Action Lawsuit we’re now starting against the BBC, the public will get a refund for licence fees paid over at least the last 10 years.

Simply put, the truth cannot be this dispensable in the public interest and in the human interest.
